There’s been lots of discussion around card ripping sites, and I honestly get the hype because I’m a fan of Collectibles too. Which is why, when I saw people doing GameStop Power Packs reviews, I had to try it myself.

If, like me, you always want to know the details of what sites like this offer before your first visit, then stick around until the end. I will break down how the platform works and whether or not it is worth your time. Since this isn’t my first card-ripping experience, rest assured, I paid attention to what matters most here.

Are there bonuses on the GameStop Power Packs site?

As I did with my Rips by Triumph review, I checked for bonuses at GameStop, especially for new users. At the time of my visit, they didn’t have a single bonus in sight. Still, I will not judge their potential for generosity based on that because anything can happen much later, so keep an open mind on this end. That’s not to say I didn’t feel a bit disappointed because a little boost would have helped me rip as many cards as I wanted. Or at least, just test the platform without taking anything out of my wallet at the initial stage.

Even though this is already obvious, let me just state that as an existing collector, you still will not get any promotions at the time of my review. In other words, don’t go searching for coupons as I did with my quest for a Ripit promo code. On the bright side, you can just focus on why you are on the platform: ripping cards and seeing what is worth keeping.

Card packs and grading at GameStop Power Packs

You will be able to rip a total of four card pack types; these are Pokemon, One Piece, BB Classics, and Sports Cards. Most of these are chase cards, but for sports, you get MLB, NFL, and NBA. No doubt they could use more options, but for now I think these are the basics that local collectors look for, so nothing to complain about here.

Regarding how you can grade your cards, I noticed that GameStop Power Packs use Card Ladder. It’s a popular platform that rates your cards based on how they have been selling in recent times, and so far, it has been an industry standard sort of. By the way, when you buy cards here, you can choose from seven levels, each with its own price. The more expensive a tier is, the higher your chances of getting a valuable card.

    • Starter: $25
    • Silver: $50
    • Gold: $100
    • Platinum: $500
    • Diamond: $1000
    • Lunar: $2500
    • Neutronium: $5000

Bear in mind that sometimes you might not find specific levels. When I was trying to buy my first Pokemon card, only the first three tiers were available.

Getting around the GameStop Power Packs platform

The major way I accessed the GameStop Power Packs platform was through the website. To be honest, I felt it looked very familiar, but then I remembered that a lot of card-ripping sites that I’ve visited recently have a dark theme. So, that eventually made sense, and it’s a good thing because the accent colors, especially the red, make it easy for you to identify buttons and get around very easily. If I were to rate it against any platform in terms of visual appeal, I would put it on the same level as what I experienced during my Ripit review.

In terms of structure, everything looked quite predictable. At the top-right corner, I had my profile and other useful icons. Then, there’s a line right below that, where you can find different navigation buttons to help you get around smoothly. In the middle, you have the cards you will be ripping, so they’re right in front of you as soon as you get on the platform. At the bottom, you eventually get to see what I like to call the toolkit, in case you have any issues or you’re just a little curious.

Testing out the apps and mobile site

I thought I’d try the GameStop Rips app too, just in case I like it better. Since I have access to an Android and an iOS mobile device, I decided to download it on both. If I am being critical, I’d say there was no difference in the experience using either one. Overall, I think I prefer using the app to the desktop website. The mobile website is also a very good alternative, especially for anyone who does not want to clutter their phone with one extra application. In terms of responsiveness, every click takes less than a second to load. That way, you can get to the page you’re trying to access almost instantly. It’s a feature that I think is very good because many apps I have tried average three to five seconds whenever I click something.

By the way, these applications are available on the official app store. You will not need to worry about looking for an APK or going to get them from a third-party platform.

How do you purchase cards or get the proceeds from your sales?

The main payment processor on the platform is Stripe, which means you will be redirected to an interface where you can then choose how you would like to pay. As for options that will pop up, they include credit and debit cards, such as MasterCard, American Express, and Visa. In other words, I would suggest that you set up a Stripe account ahead of time just in case you don’t have one yet, but if you already have an existing one, you can go ahead and just use it. I think the longest I waited while trying to make a pack purchase was one minute, which is pretty standard for Stripe payments.

However, when it comes to withdrawing the proceeds of your sales, you may need to wait up to three days because they send your funds through bank transfer. A pro tip here will be not to initiate any withdrawals on a Friday or anytime during the weekend because this can increase your wait time significantly.

How to get help- my thoughts on customer support

Now, there are a few things that matter to me more than finding a Rips by Triumph promo code or freebies on other sites. On top of that list is live chat support, which GameStop Power Packs has yet to integrate. The only way I could find answers to whatever question I had was either to go through the FAQs, which I will confess is quite detailed, or by filling out a quick form. I tried the form, and I got a response within two hours, and that’s not so shabby. However, for the most important details, such as shipping and card grading, you can easily go through PSA because they partner with them.

Licensing and security—is GameStop Power Packs legit?

While there is no standard licensing body that anyone can look at and say whether or not this brand is certified by them, there sure aren’t any red flags at this point. I did a bit of digging and found that the GameStop brand itself has a very strong reputation; there are also no complaints from users in the forums that I have checked. Also, the fact that they partner with PSA adds some form of legitimacy to their operations. Over time, I will continue to keep an eye out for anything that might change, but I do not anticipate that happening. So far, the brand has managed to put things in place for both themselves and users’ safety. For example, you will have to complete KYC, for you to use the platform in the first place.

Final thoughts on GameStop Power Packs

After using GameStop Power Packs for an entire one-month period, I can confidently say it is one of the top card-ripping platforms that I have tried. Everything from how the interface is designed to how you can interact with the cards themselves just tells me something important: the people behind it focused on collectors and what really interests them. I like that there is the extra layer of security, which is the PSA partnership, because it just lets you engage with the confidence that you can easily grade your cards and process shipping without any hassle.

Certainly, there are areas for improvement, such as integrating better customer support and including some bonuses. But I think they kind of make up for this shortcoming with their mobile application. This means that as a user, you have multiple options for how to join and use the card ripping site. I found top collectibles, including my favorite, One Piece.

So, if you’re someone who is looking to collect for keeps or look at what you can eventually resell, this is one of the platforms you definitely should be checking out. If you’re ready to sign up and test it for yourself, all you have to do is tap on any of the banners on this page, and it will automatically take you to the site. You can then create an account and decide whether or not you want to engage on mobile later on.
