My Little Pony trading cards combine colorful characters, nostalgia, and the excitement of finding a rare card in the pack. Kayou is now producing new collectible cards and a dedicated trading card game, which means collectors have more to discover.
If you enjoy that anticipatory feeling you get when opening packs, the current My Little Pony (MLP) card scene is quite interesting. There are several card lines, numerous rarity levels, and lots of chase cards to try and collect. However, finding online card rips specifically for My Little Pony can be tricky, so knowing what is available is important.
My Little Pony collectible cards have been around for years, including the initial Enterplay collectible card game and the more recent Kayou products. The newest generation has expanded the hobby with collectible cards and a game developed by Hasbro.
Kayou’s current catalog features Friendship Eternal Cards in Moon, Fun Moments, Rainbow, and Star editions. That means collectors can collect cards however they want: their favorite characters, trying to complete a set, hunting for rare cards, or trying to play the trading card game (TCG).
One of the biggest attractions of MLP cards is the artwork. The newer cards feature adored characters like Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Applejack. There are also special cards with premium finishes.
The TCG gives collectors an additional reason to open packs. The game uses original cards, and the gameplay is inspired by the Friendship is Magic series.
There isn’t a set price list for MLP cards. My Little Pony trading cards value depends on the specific set, rarity, condition, print version, and current collector demand. These changing factors mean the values are always changing, too.
The newer Kayou TCG sets make it relatively straightforward to identify chase cards since the company publishes rarity information.
For example, the Fantasy Wonderland booster set contains 191 card types spread across 13 rarity tiers. These include Shining Sapphire Rare, Shining Emerald Rare, Shining Ruby Rare, Shining Gold Rare, and Shining Colorful Rare cards.
| Rarity | What it means | Why collectors may want it |
|---|---|---|
| C | Common | Useful to complete a set. |
| U | Uncommon | Collected alongside common base cards. |
| SR | Sapphire Rare | Higher rarity character cards. |
| CR | Colorful Rare | Premium character artwork. |
| GR | Gold Rare | Attractive higher rarity collectibles. |
| SPR※ | Shining Sapphire Rare | Alternate-art chase cards. |
| ER※ | Shining Emerald Rare | Special scene cards. |
| RR※ | Shining Ruby Rare | Shining Mane 6 chase cards. |
| CR※ | Shining Colorful Rare | Special alternate-art cards. |
The hierarchy varies between product lines, so don’t always assume a rarity abbreviation means the same across each Kayou MLP release.
If you want to find the most valuable My Little Pony trading cards, rarity is a good place to start.
Unlike the most valuable sports cards that can sell for thousands of dollars, MLP cards fetch a much humbler price. Some rare Fantasy Wonderland cards fetch around $200 on resale markets, while alternative-art cards like a Shining Colorful Rare are valued between $100 and $300. Rainbow Dash, specifically the Shining Ruby Rare, is currently one of the most valuable and sought-after MLP cards.
Prices are likely to move quickly since MLP trading cards are still relatively new. A card selling for a few dollars today will not cost as much in a few months.
You also need to keep in mind the difference between rarity and market value. A rare card won’t automatically be expensive. It’s best to always look at the completed sales. Collectors looking for the most valuable Pokémon cards also apply this principle. A seller can list a card for any price, but you will get the best idea of what buyers are paying by looking at completed transactions.
If you want to enjoy the excitement of opening packs, then you need to look for card rip platforms that feature MLP cards.
Unfortunately, My Little Pony doesn’t yet have dedicated sections on card rip platforms like other popular franchises. Most online card rips appear on social media sites with live streaming abilities, like Twitch, TikTok, and Instagram. There is also a large MLP General community on Discord (not to be confused with the MLP character by the same name).
Dedicated card rip sites, like the one we unpack in our Trove review, might not yet have a section for My Little Pony trading cards, but they often act as good intermediaries to find sellers and buyers if you want or are selling a specific MLP card.
An online card rips platform allows you to purchase a pack or box remotely and have it opened for you, either digitally or physically by a third party. Depending on the platform, the physical card may be stored until you request shipping. Some services also offer live breaks, where you watch a host open your pack or box on a livestream.
However, a card rip is not the easiest way to grow your MLP card collection. If you want, for example, a specific Rainbow Dash card, then repeatedly ripping random packs online will cost a lot more than buying a single card once it becomes available. If you enjoy the suspense of opening packs and uncovering what’s inside, then ripping makes sense as entertainment.
We believe that My Little Pony trading cards are best enjoyed as a collecting hobby and not a way to make money by selling rare cards. The newer Kayou releases have a genuinely massive variety. The combination of character cards, scene cards, alternate artwork, and multiple rarity levels gives you something to hunt for without requiring every card to have significant monetary value.
You should also never judge a card based on its current value. MLP’s collector market is still developing, especially around newer English-language releases (previous releases were in Japanese). What makes these cards so exciting today is that they may eventually become common enough to be regularly featured on card rips.
If you’re coming from sports, Pokémon, One Piece, or Batman trading cards, the experience of opening MLP cards will be familiar. You have your base cards, rarity tiers, and chase cards, but MLP also has characters and artwork to collect from a franchise with decades of history.
The MLP market has changed a lot with the newer Kayou card releases. Now you can find dedicated collectible card lines and an official TCG, with cards ranging from common cards to ultra-rare Shining variants.
Collectors will likely enjoy the variety the most. You can chase the most valuable My Little Pony trading cards, collect your favorite characters, keep your eyes open for online card rips, build a complete set, or enjoy opening packs to see what you get. Online MLP rips are hard to find, but that may change as the new releases attract a larger audience.

Some can be valuable, although not as valuable as sports cards or collectibles from larger franchises in the trading card market. My Little Pony trading card value varies according to the set, rarity, condition, language, and collector demand at the time.
You can use online ripping platforms that stock MLP packs, although availability is currently limited. Most MLP card rips happen on live stream platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
First, you should identify the exact set and card number, then check the official checklist for its rarity. You can use the rarity code and card variant to help you determine whether you have a standard or shining version.
