A glimpse into the packs I found at Ripit
For this Ripit review, I headed straight for the pack collection to see what was on offer. I wasn’t waiting around. There was a whole mix of Pokémon and sports packs sitting there, practically begging me to start ripping. Each pack contained one graded and authenticated trading card to vault, ship, or sell.
Pokémon
You can tell this card rip site leans heavier into Pokémon. That’s because I found nine Pokémon packs, compared with just four sports packs. The entry-level pack starts at $25, with the top pull being a 2003 PSA 9 copy of Kyogre Ex. That’s a ceiling of $583.56 based on the card’s current Fair Market Value (FMV).
Then things got a little silly. The most expensive option was the Grail Pack, coming in at an eye-watering $2,500 per pack. That’s too expensive for most users – remember, you should never spend money you can’t afford to lose on card packs. Still, for those who do have that much disposable income, the pack has a FMV ceiling of $60,000, with the top pull being a 2005 PSA 8 copy of the Rayquaza-Holo.
Sports
I could rip football, baseball, and basketball card packs at Ripit. That meant I had plenty of options, even if not quite as many as the GameStop Power Packs review revealed. Each sport had the same four pack tiers: Starter ($25), Greater ($50), Super ($100), and Alpha ($250). And just to avoid any confusion, that’s four packs across each of the three sports, giving 12 pack types in total. I liked this separation, as it meant I could pick the sport I was most interested in.
A story about my first online card rip
I already had it in my head that I’d be ripping baseball packs. That’s the genre I’ve been focusing on lately, and I’ve already built up a pretty decent collection. But before I threw those packs in my cart, I did a little window shopping. That’s when I noticed something interesting: the pull rates were the same across each pack. At least for the three core card categories.
| Card category | Pull rate |
|---|---|
| Heat | 60% |
| Elite | 37.5% |
| Mega | 2.5% |
Of course, Heat cards typically have the lowest FMV, while Mega cards have the highest. Anyway, I made a mental note of that and got on with the ripping.
I started with 10 baseball Super Packs. From this, I landed five Heats, four Elites, and, much to my surprise, one Mega. That Mega card was a 2019 PSA 10 Touki Toussaint with an FMV of $507. Needless to say, I was pumped to add this one to my collection.
Why I chose to hold off on shipping
I was excited to have my Touki Toussaint card shipped out to my address. But when I dug a little deeper into the shipping rules, I decided to hold off. That’s because there’s a flat charge of $18 per shipment. But each shipment can hold up to 19 cards, so it only made sense to stack up my digital vault with closer to that number before shipping them out.
Vaulting and processing of trading cards at Ripit is supported by PSA, then shipped with FedEx to addresses in the United States and Puerto Rico. It may take up to 14 business days from requesting the item to it landing on your porch. At least that’s what Ripit claims; mine actually came sooner, in 11 business days. I could track the entire process from my account.
Is there a Ripit welcome bonus? Not right now
There doesn’t appear to be a Ripit welcome bonus right now. And trust me, I’ve looked as hard as I can. But it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, since many of the best card rip platforms opt out of these promos. I mean, it was only recently that I failed to find a GameStop Power Packs promo code.
That position isn’t set in stone, though. Ripit could easily pivot and introduce a welcome bonus at any time. If that happens, you’ll find the promotional banners on this page will update automatically to reflect the change. Maybe you’ll find free packs, discounts, or a percentage-based match in the future.
Which payment methods does Ripit accept?
Stripe is the payment partner of Ripit. And this means you’re not stuck with a traditional pre-loaded deposit balance. Instead, you just buy the packs as you go with supported payment providers like Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Crypto stablecoins, such as Tether and USD Coin, may also be accepted, but they also use Stripe as a payment processor.
However, before I could make my first payment, I had to verify my identity. So grab your driver’s license, passport, or national ID, and a device with a camera. This process is typically complete in under 15 minutes, which is faster than what I found in the Tiltrips review.
Cards you rip at Ripit don’t need to be held forever
When you open Ripit packs, you’re not compelled to store every card. Nope. Within the first 24 hours, you can take the platform’s sellback offer, usually around 90% of the FMV.
There were a few times when I dragged my feet and let that 24-hour window pass. Thankfully, I still had options. I could submit my own offer to Ripit, or Ripit could send me a bid for the card at any point. So even if I missed the initial sellback window, I wasn’t stuck with unwanted cards.
Withdrawals are available via ACH
That’s where withdrawals come into play, especially if that balance is stacking up fast. When I handed in my first withdrawal request, the platform let me know it may take up to 14 business days. At first, I thought this was going to drag my Ripit ratings down. But it was only this long because of the additional security checks that come with a first-time withdrawal.
Subsequent withdrawals were processed with the following timelines:
- Under $1,000: up to 5 business days
- $1,000–$10,000: up to 8 business days
- Over $10,000: up to 14 business days
Is Ripit safe for trading card collectors?
Logan Paul is one of Ripit’s co-founders. Now I know what you’re thinking: his record isn’t the cleanest. But everything here has been done by the book, and I’m thoroughly impressed with the setup. Every card rip is completely randomized, so neither you nor the platform knows which card will be pulled.
As for your data, this is put in the safe hands of Stripe. Your government-issued ID, for example, goes directly to Stripe, meaning it’s never stored by Ripit. The same is true for any sensitive payment details used for payments.
How Ripit ticks the support checkboxes
The support methods I found in this Ripit review included 24/7 live chat, email, and a help center with 21 articles. For me, that’s the trifecta I’d expect to see at a legit card ripping site.
So where did I start? A 10-minute skim of the FAQs section filled me with a mountain of facts. It’s where I first learned about the $18 shipping fee with up to 19 cards per shipment.
For more complex issues, I moved to the 24/7 live chat. I used this for specific issues I encountered while using the platform, which, to be fair, were pretty uncommon. When I opened the chat, I’d always click “Contact Support” to switch from the AI bot to a real human. The issues the team helped me resolve included a verification failure, payment error, and tracking the status of my shipment.
What about the usability of Ripit’s platform?
One thing’s for sure with Ripit packs: you won’t be digging around like a detective to find what you’re looking for. Instead, the platform is easy to browse, with packs neatly categorized by hobby and price. I loved how clicking any of the packs would immediately display the potential cards included in each, along with their individual pull rates. It reminds me of the Rips by Triumph review.
My digital vault was just as easy to manage. I could jump in whenever I wanted to see how the collection was looking. If I needed to ship cards out of the vault to my address, the interfaces made it easy to do so. This was the case whether I used the desktop or mobile site, as it’s compatible with both.
My biggest takeaways from breaking Ripit packs
Having now completed this Ripit review, I’d like to circle back to a few of my biggest takeaways. Let’s start with the pack selection, which was truly special. The platform delivers a nice balance of Pokémon, football, baseball, and basketball, with several price points to choose from.
But the highlight of my experience had to be pulling that Mega card from my 10 baseball Super packs. It was a nice surprise, which was followed up with a stress-free shipping process.
So Ripit is definitely worth a shout if you’re an avid collector. If you’d like to give it a go, just click one of the links on this page.
